And if you come to those who have been given the Book with every verse, they will not follow your kiss, nor will you follow theirs, nor will they follow each other’s kiss.

* Never in history has this boredom agreed on a single kiss, despite the development of civilization, the means of communication, and attempts at religious dialogue.
The verse then foretold a religious firmness through the ages: “The doctrinal and tribal division will continue until the Hour.”

1. In the era of the Prophet, there was no indication that this stability would remain for thousands of years; rather, these differences could have melted with the times or with the power of Islam or with cultural cross-fertilization.
But reality has proved what the Qur’an has told with astonishing accuracy: every religion remains steadfast in its religion and has accepted it.
2. Miracles in historical context and internal conflict (after my own contract)
At the time of the revelation of this verse, Muslims were in a period of relative weakness in Mecca and early Medina, and the hearts of some of them were eager to gain the approval of the people of the Book (Jews and Christians) or thought that following their kiss might be a way of rapprochement with them. The verse here not only proves a future reality, but also calms the same Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Muslims and cuts off their greed in co-opting the people of the book, and establishes the independence of the nation and its doctrinal identity.
3. Prediction was anti-current: it was logical then to expect that Islam, as a new religion, might be absorbed by the larger current (people of the book) or merged with it over time. But the Qur’an broke with this ruling, which seemed to some frustrating, but it was an accurate description of a reality that will remain until the Hour.
4. The miracle of banishing "following" and not just "difference"
They did not say, “And they will not agree on one kiss,” but they used a deeper language: “They did not follow your kiss” and “they did not follow one another’s kiss.”
5. Adherence means acceptance, submission and satisfaction, which is beyond mere formal difference. A Jew may pray in a Christian church (albeit forced) but he does not follow its kiss in his heart and creed. And vice versa. The verse denies the submission of heart and mind, and this is the constant that has not changed.
6. The miracle of covering the negation: "Some of them follow each other's kiss"
This sentence is the culmination of the miracle, as it talks not only about the relationship of Muslims with them, but about the relationship of each other.

Even within denominations: The meaning can be expanded to include the difference between the Christian denominations themselves (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant) in determining the direction of prayer accurately (to the east, to the Vatican, or to Jerusalem). Each denomination is committed to its understanding.
9. Miracles Under Failed Unification Attempts
Recent history attests to the astonishing sincerity of this prophecy:
Attempts at “convergence of religions”: Huge efforts (such as interfaith conferences) to reach a “common doctrine” or even a “common symbol” have all failed miserably. These attempts have not been able to change the doctrine or the kiss of any of these boredoms.
Colonization and proselytization: There have been periods of complete political control of the people of the book over Muslim countries, and the missionaries tried hard to obliterate the identity of Muslims, but failed to make the Nation of Islam follow their kiss. Conversely, none of the people of the book followed the Muslim kiss despite the strength of the Islamic State for centuries.
10. Theistic dimension: rooting "nodal independence"
The verse was not merely a mystical news, but the foundation of Islam’s greatest principle: complete doctrinal independence (innocence from polytheism and its people, even in rituals).
If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had followed their kiss one day, this would have been a major doctrinal loophole. The Qur’anic text came decisive: “And you will not follow their kiss”, to close this door forever.
In conclusion:
1. This verse is a unique example of the historical, social and psychological miracle, which proves that the Quran is not only a book related to the time of its descent, but it is an accurate description of the fixed laws of God in humans, nations, and the conflict between right and wrong, until the hour is established. This is something that no wise thinker or sociologist can say with such accuracy and stability through these long centuries.
2. This is one of the axes of the miracle, which bears the name: "the historical predictive miracle in the Qur'an", as it describes the future realities extended to millions of people over the centuries, without changing.
