After studying data on suicide terrorism worldwide from 1980 to 2003, Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago (Dr. Robert Pape) states in the introduction to his book:
"The data show that there is little correlation between suicide terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism, or even any religion in the world... But, what almost all suicide terrorist attacks have in common is a specific secular and strategic goal; which is to force modern democracies to withdraw military forces from territories that terrorists consider their homelands."
