And of the people there is one whom you like to say in the life of this world, and Allah bears witness to what is in his heart.
And among the people there are those whom you like to say in the life of the world, and Allah bears witness to what is in his heart, and he is the worst of all quarrels; and when he turns away, he strives in the earth to corrupt it and destroy the tillage and the offspring.
A vision for the future in a time of ignorance and political and environmental corruption
At a time when man had no knowledge of ecosystems, nor of complex political and economic problems, the Quranic miracle manifested itself in a very accurate description of corrupting human behavior, which threatens the stability of life on earth. This verse does not describe a passing individual case, but rather draws a recurring human model in history: its appearance of reform and corruption, and its slogan of development while it is in fact the destruction of life, man and the environment.
First: The Concept of Environmental Corruption in the Divine Budget
Corruption on earth, as revealed in the Qur’an, is a comprehensive concept that transcends moral deviation to anything that disrupts the cosmic order that God has placed in creation.
“Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned, to make them taste some of what they have done, so that they may return.”
The Qur’an links the corruption of man with the corruption of the environment around him, because man is part of the system of creation, and when he breaks the balance of the Lord, the effects of his corruption appear on land, sea and air.
Second: Integrated Islamic System for Environmental Protection
Fourteen centuries ago, Islam introduced an integrated system to protect the environment and maintain the vital balance, through:
* The rights of all creatures: the environment does not belong to man alone, but is a common trust among all beings.
* Individual and collective responsibility: Islam made the protection of the environment a worship, he said: "Emitting harm from the way charity."
“The earth has been made for me a mosque and a place of purification,” he said.
* Mercy towards beings: Islam called for the welfare of animals and plants, and made charity to them a path to the satisfaction of Allah.
Third: Environmental balance in Islamic law
The balance on which the universe is based is a manifestation of the divine balance that God has ordered to establish and not to disturb.
And establish the weight with equity, and do not lose the balance.
This is the divine warning:
And do not cause corruption in the land after it has been repaired.
It is a divine call to preserve the cosmic balance of man’s absurdity and greed, for true reform is in maintaining the balance between the earth’s resources and man’s needs, not in draining them under the pretext of “progress” or “modernity.”
Fourth: Quranic predictions achieved in our time
The modern era has witnessed horrific manifestations of environmental corruption, confirming the sincerity of the Quranic miracle in describing this behavior more than fourteen centuries ago:
Thermal emissions and climate change
Industrial pollution of land, sea and air
* Extinction of species and disruption of food chains
Desertification and depletion of water resources
They are all witnesses to say:
That He may make them taste some of what they have done, that they may return.
It is a call to environmental repentance before it is too late.
Fifth: Political and economic corruption in the global power system

And when it is said to them, `Do not cause mischief in the land,' they say, `We are only reformers.'
One of the most prominent forms of contemporary corruption is practiced by global political and economic forces, which raise the slogan of “reform” while spreading injustice and exploitation.
A. Greedy Capitalism:
Organized corruption in the name of economic freedom, based on:
The accumulation of wealth in the hands of the few,
* Debt bondage of peoples,
Turning a human into a consumption machine,
The plundering of the resources of nations in the name of “investment”.
“O you who have believed, do not eat your property among yourselves with falsehood.
B. Alleged Communism:
Tyranny in the name of equality, practiced by regimes that crush the individual in the state machine and prevent freedoms in the name of the collective, and demolish spiritual values in the name of material progress.
The Qur’an says:
And when he turns away, he strives in the land to corrupt it and destroy the tillage and the offspring.
Sixth: Islam.. Middleness, Mercy and Justice
Islam has come to offer the Lord’s just alternative between excess and waste:
Neither the greed of capitalism nor the tyranny of communism,
* Responsible freedom and social justice,
a balance between the individual and society,
Mercy of beings and respect for nature.

And thus We have made you a middle nation, that you may be witnesses against men.
Conclusion
The Qur'an preceded all international conventions and modern environmental regulations in calling for the protection of the earth and man, and linking moral, political and environmental corruption with one link: man's deviation from the divine method.
The verse will remain as a witness that reform is not by the slogans of humans, but by the method of God who establishes the balance and fixes plowing and breeding, and preserves life from corruption.
