Summary of a scientific dialogue on the six days of creation between Qur'anic understanding and modern cosmological perception
Critical Reading in Dr. Hassan Al-Omari's Introduction
By: Dr. Mohamed Bourbab
Introduction
The issue of the "six days of creation" has sparked a renewed debate among commentators and researchers in the scientific miracle, especially in light of the enormous progress in cosmology and associated theories about the age of the universe and the beginnings of the formation of galaxies, stars and planets.
Some researchers have made explanations that attempt to link the age of the universe, estimated at 13.8 billion years, to the six days mentioned in the Qur’an, according to Dr. Hassan Al-Omari, who presented a controversial reading that we will present and discuss scientifically and Qur’an in this article.
First: Dr. Hassan Al-Omari
Dr. Hassan Al-Omari believes that:
"During the six days of creation there were no stars, no planets, no atoms of the elements, but there was radiation and the initial minutes of matter and light nuclei, and the universe was in a state of tension between radiation and matter, and there was neither earth nor mountains, but dark matter was the anchor gravity incubator."
The Qur’an states: “The creation of the heavens and the earth did not witness them, nor did they create themselves.”
“Verily, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then settled on the Throne.”
Second: Scientific observations on this proposal
Despite Dr. Al-Omari's intention to combine cosmological data with the Qur'anic text, his presentation involves a confusion between two completely different cosmological stages:
1. The phase of percussion and hernia, i.e. the Big Bang and the beginning of the formation of matter and energy.
2. The creation phase in six days, which is the stage of the structural organization of the heavens and the earth and the stable cosmic system.
The confusion between these two stages has caused the interpretation to depart from the Qur’anic context that links the six days to the building and organization stage and not to the first radiation beginnings, as Dr. Hassan al-Omari and other doctors he referred to in the dialogue claim.
Third: Scientific and Quranic Response
1. Separation of creation and percussion:
Describes the generous verse:
"Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were astonished, and We pierced them?"
Clearly the first explosion and the beginning of the cosmic expansion, a stage before creation in six days.
2. Creation in six days is the stage of structural organization:
In it, as in others, there is complete compatibility between the Qur'anic and scientific sequences in the composition of the earth and its atmosphere, "and then seven heavens were leveled" (Al-Baqara: 29), this Qur'anic text combines two time-spaced stages in the creation of the earth and its atmosphere:
* Prepare the earth first, and then organize the sky, which has been proven by modern astronomy, the sky of the earth was present in the form of smoke (gases and fumes),
She then underwent a process of adjustment and timescale that ended in seven organized heavens, each with a function.
This accurately reflects what science proves about the atmosphere was not created suddenly in its current form, but went through long evolutionary stages until it settled on its image, which was succeeded by a chapter detailed in the saying:
The verse in Surah is separated:
Then he turned to the smokeless smoke and said to her and to the earth, "Come, willingly or unwillingly," and they said, "We have come willingly."
The word "smoke" is a very accurate description of the cosmic state, because science proves that the first sky (surrounding the Earth) was in its beginnings gases and fumes rising from volcanic emissions and meteoric collisions, which corresponds to the word smoke.
In the words of the Qur'an, "Then it was leveled to the sky": "Then" here is the time laxity rather than the immediate arrangement, that is, the process of leveling the sky (including the atmosphere) did not occur at once, but was phased through long stages.
This is consistent with what we have scientifically stated: that the atmosphere took billions of years to evolve from a dense, different atmosphere to a stable one that protects life.
"The Seven Heavens"
This suggests that the sky (including the atmosphere near us) has undergone layering and leveling processes.
Modern science confirms that the atmosphere is composed of seven major layers (tropospheric, stratospheric, mesosphere, thermosphere, ionosphere, exosphere, and magnetosphere as a protective belt), which is an amazing compatibility with the Quranic expression.
And He revealed in every heaven her command:
Each layer of the sky and atmosphere can be understood to have a specific function:
1. A layer that protects from ultraviolet (ozone) radiation.
2. Layer regulates the weather.
3. A layer burns meteors.
4. Layer reflecting wireless waves...etc.
Say: "Do you then disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two days?
It is a detail of the stages of creation of the earth with geometrical accuracy, starting with the formation of the earth and ending with the settlement of the seven layers of the earth's atmosphere, a stage that was part of the creation in six days and not outside it.
3. Numerical proportionality does not mean time equality:
When we divide the age of the universe (13.8 billion years) by the age of the earth (4.54 billion years), we get a ratio close to 6 * 2 * 3, a numerical consensus intended to determine the time of the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days * 13.8 billion years. / Age of the universe, and the days of the creation of the earth: 4.57 billion years, a symbolic reference to the structural proportionality between the major stages of cosmic and geological creation.
4. Leveling on the throne after creation:
Then he turned to the other side of the throne and said, “It’s been six days, it’s been six days.”
Fourth: balanced geological and cosmological reading
From a modern geological perspective, a sequence consistent with the Quranic statement can be observed:
The universe began to form 13.8 billion years ago.
The first stars appeared 13.4 billion years later.
Earth was formed 4.57 billion years ago.
The first atmosphere formed 4.4 billion years ago.
This sequence does not conflict with the Qur'anic text, but rather confirms the gradualness of creation and organization described in Surat Ta'ath.
Conclusion
Creation in six days represents a divine law of gradualness and perfection, not an astronomical number measured in light years.
The confusion of some researchers between the first stages of the creation of the heavens and the earth leads them to misunderstanding, as it makes the “days of creation” a stage (in which radiation and the initial minutes of matter and light nuclei, and the universe was in a state of tension between radiation and matter) and not the stage of the cosmic system.
However, the Qur’an makes a clear distinction between:
the beginning of existence (ringing and hernia),
The construction and organization phase (creation in six days),
The stage of management and domination (leveling on the throne).
All of this testifies to the fact that the Qur’anic text precedes the modern scientific concept with astonishing precision and precision, but our companions twist the necks of the clear signs, despite the stability of the astronomical scientific results in the subject.
The presentation and connection between the Qur'anic text and the cosmological/timeline data that combines the Qur'anic verses from the Surah of the Prophets and Surat separated with the cosmological and geological sequence of events - which shows the temporal harmony between revelation and scientific reality.
Visual Conclusion:
The timeline can be summarized as follows:
Did the unbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were astonished, and We caused them to herniate?
9:12 Say, "Do you then disbelieve in Him who created the earth in two days?
Detail of Earth's Creation: Geological and Atmosphere Formation
“Verily, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then settled on the throne.”
God, yes, I know.
