Critique of Evolutionary Ethics: Richard Dawkins Model – Author's Introduction
Why this book?!
Of course, the phenomenon of atheism after 9/11 is fundamentally different from the old atheism. One of the most important features of this difference is the call, where atheism has become a religion that is called upon with all media and scientific weapons.
Atheism is no longer a gloomy choice that the average human being is forced to after the lack of evidence for the existence of God, or a position adopted by a famous philosopher with recognition of the nihilism necessary for this atheism, or a philosophical debate about the relationship of atheism to modernity, or scientifically about the nature of God's action if the theory of evolution is correct, but has become a decorated atheism promising a happy life on a scientific moral basis, after repeated research in the field of psychology.
My work in this book is a critique of evolutionary ethics in terms of its origin and justification, and this is more important than the general search for ethics independent of religion, the research here relates only to one of the two wings of atheist ethics, which is evolutionary. Has evolutionary psychology really succeeded in explaining the origin of ethics or values? Or at least, does it have a theoretical basis?
The most famous example of all of the above is Richard Dawkins’s book The God Delusion, which is clearly a proselytizing book, and makes a mockery of some complex scientific and philosophical issues, emphatically in favor of his atheistic call. But what is important in this book, since it is not hidden from an atheist or an informed believer, is the philosophical side of the book, which is a summary of Dawkins’s book The Selfish Gene, which was published in the 1970s original critique.
The research begins with a presentation and critique of Dawkins's two main ideas of evolutionary ethics, the "gene-centric view" and the "machine object", followed by a critique of Dawkins' (and most biologists') interpretation of animal altruism, in light of the original critique of the two main ideas, and then a critique of Dawkins' explanation of human altruism through the concept of whole memes, and ultimately a critique of the philosophical basis of evolutionary psychology and ethics.
What this book aims to do is to show that “the problem of the existence of good” is beyond atheistic justification. I hope this research is the beginning of a critique of the field of evolutionary psychology, which has been overlooked by scholars of modern atheism in the Arab world.
