Behe Returns with Darwin Devolves: New DNA Science That Challenges Evolution

We just finished translating and publishing Behe, so Behe came up with his new book, Darwin’s Devolve, to focus on a point he’d talked about a lot before, but scientific research has made it clearer than ever.

Behe Returns with Darwin Devolves: New DNA Science That Challenges Evolution Just finished translating Behe’s Edge of Evolution, Behe’s new book, Darwin’s Devolve, focuses on a point he’s talked about a lot before, but scientific research has made it clearer than ever before: the point of sabotaging random mutations of life at the molecular level. As usual, of course, scholars, guardians of the temple of Darwinism, criticize the book before they see it! (meaning in Egyptian; our Lord will never interrupt you habitually!) The book has been reviewed and its criticisms extended to him, after only eight days of publication! This is all unimportant now, the important thing is that we would like to share with you a nice story, which Behe mentioned before, but retold in the introduction to this book: "During my post-graduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and post-doctoral work at the National Institutes of Health I had no doubts about basic evolutionary theory, and I sometimes teased my friends who had doubts about it (and with arrogance). I remember that one day while working at the NIH I was chatting with a fellow Catholic named Joanne (and her brother was working A priest, with whom I was engaged in research in the lab, on the big questions, and the talk moved on to the genesis of life. While she and I were content to think that life arose by natural laws, we kept bumping into problems. I pointed out that to get the first cell, you'd first need a membrane, and she added "proteins," and I said "metabolism," and she added "genetic code." A few moments later we looked at each other with astonishment and wide eyes and said with one voice "Oh!", and then we laughed and went back to work, as if it didn't represent I think we both thought that even if none of us knew how undirected nature could begin life, someone must know. That's the amazing power of collective thinking. Three years after my first job as an assistant professor at Queens College in New York City, my wife Celeste and our first daughter Grace moved to Beetleheim, Pennsylvania, where I was waiting for a new job at Lehigh University. Many years later, as I was busy working, I stopped to read a book that surprised me and changed my mind about evolution. At that point, when I thought about the past, I realized that I hadn't heard any of my professors criticise Darwin's theory over the course of all my scientific studies. I spent a lot of time in the next few months in the science library trying to find papers or books that explained in real detail how random mutations and natural selection could produce the super-complex systems that we normally study in biochemistry. I came back empty-handed, I found nothing at all. Of course, those who follow the file know the rest of the story, almost 30 years spent searching for the real answers, a journey worth appreciating, but what we want to draw your attention to are two things... First, Behe’s story of what happened with his lab colleague is so terrifying, it’s the reason the current consensus exists on Darwinian evolution. When two scientists with a PhD in biochemistry are discussing and working on postdoctoral research at the largest scientific body in the largest country that is interested in science and do not know how to produce random cell mutations, they should not forget about it and continue their work, but should stop for research and close examination! But what has happened with them is what is happening now, and what will continue to happen over and over again as a particular paradigm (or paradigm) of science is established, is the power of the paradem then, not the power of collective thought. Second, the moment that Behe decided that he would not be satisfied with the ambiguity, speculation and silencing of questions, is the moment that Behe, as we know him now, was made of. This reaction, if it even existed among ten scientists, would have changed the scientific arena completely and finally, and many things would have changed in our lives. - Management of the Brahin Center — Source: Brahin Center website - Published 2019-03-12 (archived at the Internet Archive) https://braheen.com/articles/evolution-design/بيهي-يعود-مجددا-تراجع-داروين-العلم-الجديد-حول-الدنا-الذي-يتحدى-التطور
