This article comes from the proponent of intelligent design and evolutionary biologist Richard Sternberg, in which he compares the processability of information in the cell with computer programming, and the author notes that non-physical symbols and codes form the basis of biology.
According to Sternberg, the genetic code is similar to computer code in that it possesses the following characteristics: "Abundance, fault-frustration potential, symbolic and semantic flexibility, diversity of output, multiple investigational (i.e. the possibility of translating the code into several states), and text editing." There is also a form of iteration in molecular biology that is similar to computer iteration, "where a protein can be part of a transcription machine, or RNA processing, or transport machine."
The bottom line is that biological pieces are not only intrinsically reducible to physical particles, but are also information, symbols, and sets of mathematical laws of logic.
