Challenges for Human Fossil Scientists
Evolutionists classify humans, chimpanzees and all living organisms descended from their common ancestor under the corpus hominid, and paleontology studies the remains of ancient hominid fossils, but human paleontologists face many challenges in their quest to reconstruct the story of hominid evolution.
The second challenge facing human paleontologists is the fossil samples themselves: hominin fossils are barely scattered bone fragments, making it difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the shape, behavior and relationships of many of these specimens.
As the paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould said:
“Most of the fossils of mankind are only fragments of jaws and skulls, though they serve as the basis for many tales and speculations that are almost endless.”
