Discoveries in Burges and the hills of Idicara provide just two examples of what paleontology has always suffered from. Since the days of the Paris garden de paris and the establishment of this science in the late 18th century, rocks have brought us exciting and strange new forms of biology, from dinosaurs, ichthyosaurs and pterosaurs in the early 19th century, and then Hallows.
But what we have never uncovered are the huge numbers of transitional forms of Darwin, despite the massive expansion of geological activities in every corner of the Earth!!!
Although many strange and unknown forms were discovered at the time, the infinite number of links has not been discovered, and the fossil record is as fragmentary as it was during Darwin's writing of "The Origin of Species"!
Transitional forms have remained as lost as ever, and their absence remains a striking feature of the fossil record.
As was the case in Darwin's day, it is still largely true that the earliest organisms representing the basic groups of organisms known in biology had all the features of their communities when they first appeared in the fossil record. This phenomenon is particularly evident in the case of the fossil record of invertebrates, since, at the beginning of their appearance in the seas of antiquity, invertebrate life was already divided into almost all the basic groups familiar to us today.
For example, early molluscs represented cephalopods (a group that includes octopus and squid) and bivalves (oysters and clams) as well as gastropods and other molluscs were quite distinct when they first appeared in the fossil record.
Robert Barrens sums up the current situation: "The fossil record tells us nothing about the evolutionary origin of people and classes, as transitional forms do not exist, are undiscovered and are unknown."
– Dr. Michael Denton, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, p203
