Why did evolution fail the math test?
In this video, the philosopher of biology, Dr. Paul Nelson, tells us why Darwinian evolution failed when mathematicians tried to test it.
More than 55 years ago, an important conference was held at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, and its main subject was “Mathematical Challenges for the Interpretation of Modern Darwinism for Evolution.” Among the attendees were Marcel-Pau Schitzenberger, a mathematician and doctor from the University of Paris, Stanislaw Ulam, an assistant designer of the hydrogen bomb, and Marianne Edin, of course.
The conference also included prominent biologists such as Ernst Mayr, the father of modern Darwinism, and Richard Lewontin, one of the most prominent contributors to the theorizing of modern Darwinism.
This conference had a significant influence on the understanding of how mathematics views modern Darwinism. It proved beyond a doubt that the physical understanding of biological processes is too short to succeed in interpreting living organisms from any scientific angle.
Among other things, Sir Peter Medawar (nobel laureate in medicine and president of the conference) commented: “There are objections from colleagues who feel that there is something “missing” in the current theory. These objections to the current Darwinist-modern theory are very widespread among biologists in general, and I think we should not, in any way, underestimate them.”
Also, Mary Eden, an engineering professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, commented in his paper, Inadequacies as a Scientific Theory, on the issue of random mutations: "No official language currently tolerates random changes in the sequence of its symbols that express sentences, the meaning of which will often be completely destroyed.
As the famous mathematician Stanislaw Ulam put it in his paper How Mathematical Problems Formulate the Rate of Evolution: “It seems that thousands, perhaps millions, of successful mutations are needed to produce the easiest complexity we see in life today.”
