At the 2006 Beyond Belief conference, which was considered by some to be the real start of the new atheism movement, Neil Tyson paused to ask not why 85% of the National Academy of Sciences in America does not believe in a God, but why there are 15% of them.
At the 2006 Beyond Belief conference, which some saw as the real start of the New Atheism movement, Neil Tyson stopped to ask not why 85% of the National Academy of Sciences in America does not believe in a God, but why 15% believe in a God!
Tyson’s words, in addition to Schwartz’s in this passage, sum up how the scientific practice’s dominant elite (especially in the United States) handles religious issues.
Jeffrey Schwartz is one of the stars of psychiatry in America, and his technique of non-pharmacological treatment of OCD has achieved unparalleled success, however, as long as he is fought and accused of wanting to overturn the scientific practice of a religious arena of prayers and meditations, all this and he did not reject the use of physical drugs originally! But he stated that he is against the materialistic philosophy, and therefore does not believe that there is no non-physical treatment like the rest of the dominant materialists.
There is a frantic war of materialists over anyone who thinks like Jeffrey Schwartz in the scientific arena, and we have to be aware of this well, we have to be aware of how dangerous speech is said in the name of science or in the name of scientific institutions, and we have to realize that it is not always going to be free of personal and philosophical prejudices.
